Hamilton is located on the shores of Lake Ontario, just 45 minutes from Toronto and Niagara Falls and one hour from the U.S. border. The Niagara Escarpment runs through the city creating an ‘upper’ and ‘lower’ city with fantastic escarpment roads, waterfalls and natural areas, right in the heart of the city! Hamilton is formed out of 6 distinct communities offering very diverse looks from historic Dundas to the larger community of Hamilton with perfectly preserved periods of development from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. With a population of 502,000 living in over 112,000 hectares, there is a lot of room for productions.

Hamilton’s biggest asset is its people. The community is ‘open for filming’ and will go to great lengths to help productions achieve their production targets on time and within budget. Filming is a recognized emerging economic engine, bringing wealth and jobs to the community. For this reason, City Council is 100% behind filming in the city. In 2005, film and commercial shoots accounted for over 1300 prep, shoot and wrap days for a total direct investment in the community of $15.6 million.
